ID for UAE Residents

Through this service the Emirates Identity Authority issues Emirates ID Cards for non-local (expatriate) residents.

Process description

Please follow the steps below:

1. Complete the pre-registration application and print it or visit one of the typing centres. 
2. Schedule an appointment using the Appointment Reservation System or visit your nearest Emirates Identity Authority service point.
3. Submit the pre-registration form and supporting documents.
4. Pay the registration fee.
5. Complete the registration process at the designated counters (documents scan and biometric data capture).
6. Receive the card which will be sent via registered express mail.

Special conditions

• Validity of ID card is linked to the validity of the residence visa.
• Registration in the system is mandatory for those under the age of fifteen and it is free of charge, but issuing the ID Card is optional, the fee is AED 50.
• Applicants must be prepared to have their fingerprints, digital photographs and electronic signature taken.
• Coloured contact lenses and hand henna are not allowed.
• Pre-registration document must be printed using a laser printer.
• Payment is only accepted in cash or credit card. Personal cheques are not accepted.
